September 22nd-26th: Something that starts with the letter “d”

It was another busy week in the LHMS classroom but we loved every minute!

On Monday and Thursday, Ms. Olga came to school and the children worked on their Spanish.  They worked on learning the Spanish words for different parts of the body and types of food.  By the end of the year, hopefully they will be able to remember all they are learning with Ms. Olga!

Tuesday was yoga day with Ms. Niza and this week’s theme for class was “At the Farm.”

  • For the breathing exercise, they practiced “Take-5” which is inhaling and then exhaling to the count of five.
  • Then, they took a trip to the farm.  They saw lots of Trees.  They became Woodchoppers and chopped some wood.  From the chopped wood, they built a Chair and a Table.
  • Near the barn they saw a Cow, some Bunnies, and lots of little Ducks.  They ended their class with a Duck Parade.

At the end of yoga class, Ms. Niza and the kids all relaxed and calmed down on their backs.

This week Ms. Kathy was unable to make it to school so we did not have tumbling but we had plenty of sunshine outside and the kids had fun playing on the playground.

Ms. Meera also introduced vegetable art to the children.  She brought in onions, celery, acorn squash, starfruit, and bell peppers to use.  After dipping the cut vegetable slices in paint, the children stamped them on paper creating their own art pieces.

Lastly, this week’s show and tell theme was “something that starts with the letter D” and while we had many dogs and ducks brought in, the teachers all agree that Francis went above and beyond this week with his show and tell item.
