With the first day of fall being next Tuesday, this week marks our last official week of summer! We spent the last week of summer playing outside, learning in the classroom, practicing yoga, tumbling, and learning together at group.
We started our week celebrating a birthday. On Monday, we had Anna’s birthday walk celebration and she brought yummy treats to share with us.
On Tuesday, Ms. Niza was here and the theme for yoga this week was “Like a Fish in the Water.”
- Yoga class started with the Chest Breathing exercise and then they stretched to become Rain Drops and Rivers.
- They learned the yoga poses (asanas) for Fish, and the large ocean mammals Dolphin, Seal, and Big Blue Whale.
- Lastly, the children made up poses for Octopus and Star Fish.
To end the yoga class, the children and Ms. Niza used their imaginations to become a colorful fish swimming in the ocean.
Wednesday brought the return of Ms. Kathy and Tumbling! Ms. Kathy took the summer off but is back for the rest of the school year, and each Wednesday she will be here to help the tumblers run, jump, and play games. It’s always a hit and the tumblers use up all their energy while also learning more about what their able bodies can do.
There was lots of good work being done in the classroom this week too.
It was a great week at school and the fun will only continue next week!
